Garnwen Trust
About Banner

The Garnwen Trust was set up by Richard and Margaret Collins in memory of their son Alex and his girlfriend Bethan Jones.

Alex and Bethan, both 22, were just three days into a trip of a lifetime when the flight they took from Bangkok to Phuket in September 2007 failed to land successfully. They were amongst ninety people who lost their lives in the crash.

What is the Garnwen Trust?

In 2008 Richard and Margaret decided to start fundraising in order to build and maintain a multi-purpose log cabin at Afan Forest Park.

To date the fund stands at £160,000, which has been raised by a number of events in the local community at Maesteg, including the annual Walk for Al and Maesteg Party in the Park which was attended by approximately 2000 in 2013.

The Only Boys Aloud concert was a great success for the Garnwen Trust and a complete 'sell out'. The atmosphere in the hall was electric and Noteworthy and Adam Robert Lewis didn't disappoint giving fantastic performances. Only Boys Aloud really raised the roof and were given a standing ovation by the audience.  It was truly a night to remember!
