Garnwen Trust

In 2008, we decided to start fundraising in order to build and maintain a multi-purpose log cabin at Afan Forest Park, situated on the other side of Garnwen Mountain.

It is hoped that the cabin will enable groups of disabled and able bodied people to enjoy short breaks and interest has been shown by many groups, including children with learning difficulties, carers, disadvantaged children, groups in need of respite and schools.

The cabin will be situated near the visitors centre at Afan Forest Park. The area is renowned for the best cycle trails in the country, and last year in excess of 80,000 people visited the Park.

In 2009 the trust was granted full charitable status and during 2010 full planning permission was granted for the cabin.

To date the fund stands at £160,000, which has been raised by a number of events in the local community at Maesteg, including the annual Walk for Al and Maesteg Party in the Park which was attended by approximately 2000 in 2013.

The Only Boys Aloud concert was a great success for the Garnwen Trust and a complete 'sell out'. The atmosphere in the hall was electric and Noteworthy and Adam Robert Lewis didn't disappoint giving fantastic performances. Only Boys Aloud really raised the roof and were given a standing ovation by the audience.  It was truly a night to remember!
